Proposed changes to bus services – Suburb by Suburb

Fletcher, Maryland, Minmi and Wallsend

  • • Existing route 260 between Minmi and Wallsend would be modified to extend to/from Stockland Glendale.  It would operate between Minmi and Wallsend via Minmi Rd, Maryland Dr and Callan Av.  Between Wallsend and Stockland Glendale it would operate via Lake Rd, Glendale Rd and Main Rd.

  • • New route 261 would operate between Fletcher and Stockland Glendale via Wallsend. Between Fletcher and Wallsend it would operate via Brittania Blvd, Minmi Rd, Churnwood Dr, Cottonwood Chase, Bottlebrush Blvd, Minmi Rd, Warkworth St, Sandycroft St, Seaton St, Cromdale Pde, McNaughton Av and Minmi Rd.  Between Wallsend and Stockland Glendale it would operate via Lake Rd, Glendale Rd and Main Rd.

  • • Existing route 265 would no longer operate in Wallsend.
  • Existing route 267 would be modified to operate between Cameron Park (South) and Newcastle University, operating via Edgeworth, Stockland Glendale, Cardiff Station, Wallsend Rd, Cardiff Rd, Elemore Vale Shops and Wallsend Shops.

  • • Existing route 270 would only operate between Stockland Glendale and Newcastle University (via Wallsend) during weekday peak periods only.
  • There would be no changes proposed to existing Newcastle Buses services.

Cameron Park and Edgeworth

  • • Existing route 265 would be modified to operate between West Wallsend and Stockland Glendale via Holmesville, Killingworth, Barnsley and Edgeworth.  Selected trips would continue to operate from Seahampton. 
    • • The current occasional trips to Wallsend and Newcastle would no longer operate – connections to frequent Newcastle Buses services would be available at Stockland Glendale for Wallsend (route 226 or Hunter Valley Buses routes 260 and 261) or Newcastle (route 363). 
    • Route 265 would also no longer operate via Suttor St and Garth St at Edgeworth, but operate direct via Main Rd – these streets would be served by new route 268.
  • • Existing route 266 would be modified to operate between Cameron Park (North) and Stockland Glendale.  It would operate via Blackwood Cct, Constitution Dr, Jupiter Cct, Araminta Chase, Northlakes Dr, Minmi Rd and Main Rd. 
    • • Services in the Harper Av area would be provided by new route 268.

    • • The current occasional services to Cardiff Station, Charlestown Square and Westfield Kotara would no longer operate.  Connections to frequent Newcastle Buses services for travel to Charlestown (route 339) or Westfield Kotara (route 334) would be available at Stockland Glendale.
  • • Existing route 267 would be modified to operate between Cameron Park (South) and Newcastle University via Edgeworth, Stockland Glendale, Cardiff Station, Elermore Vale and Wallsend.  It would operate via Northlakes Dr, Elanet Av, Flamingo Dr, Hilldale Dr, Oakville Rd, Minmi Rd and Main Rd.  Current route 267 trips between Seahampton/West Wallsend and Glendale would be renumbered route 265.

  • • New route 268 would provide a local service between Durham Drive Edgeworth and Stockland Glendale.  It would operate via Durham Dr, Suttor St, Garth St, Main Rd, Minmi Rd, Sedgwick Av, Harper Av and Neilson St, replacing routes 265, 267 and 266 in these streets.

Barnsley, Holmesville, Killingworth, Seahampton and West Wallsend

  • • Existing route 265 would be altered to operate between West Wallsend, Edgeworth and Stockland Glendale, via Holmesville, Killingworth and Barnsley.
    • It would no longer operate between Stockland Glendale and Wallsend, and the limited service to/from Newcastle would no longer operate.  Connections to frequent Newcastle Buses services to Wallsend and Newcastle are available at Stockland Glendale (routes 226 and 363).
    • Selected trips would continue to operate to/from Seahampton
    • The daytime frequency on route 265 would be altered to meet current demand.
  • Existing route 267 would no longer operate in the West Wallsend area.  All services between West Wallsend and Stockland Glendale would be provided by route 265.

Cardiff and Glendale

  • • New routes 260 and 261 would operate from Stockland Glendale to Minmi via Lake Road, Wallsend Shops and Maryland.
  • Route 265 would operate from Stockland Glendale to West Wallsend via Edgeworth, Barnsley, Killingworth and Holmesville.  Selected trips would extend to/from Seahampton.
  • Route 266 would operate from Stockland Glendale to Cameron Park (North), via Edgeworth.

  • • Route 267 would operate from Cameron Park (South) to Newcastle University via Edgeworth, Stockland Glendale, Cardiff railway station, Cardiff Road, Wallsend Road, Elemore Vale Shops, Wallsend Shops, Douglas Street and Stockland Jesmond.
  • New route 268 would operate from Stockland Glendale to Edgeworth providing a local service via Harper Avenue and Garth/Suttor Streets.

  • • Route 270 would operate from Stockland Glendale to Toronto and Toronto West via Booragul, Woodrising, Fennell Bay, Fassifern and Blackalls Park.  Weekday peak hour trips would extend to/from Newcastle University via Wallsend and Jesmond.

  • • Route 271 would operate from Stockland Glendale to Toronto via Teralba Station, Booragul, Marmong Point, Bolton Point and Fennell Bay.

  • • Route 272 would operate from Stockland Glendale to Toronto via Teralba Station, Booragul, Woodrising, Bolton Point and Fennell Bay.

  • • There would be no changes to existing Newcastle Buses services in the Glendale and Cardiff areas.

Toronto District (including Blackalls Park, Bolton Point, Booragul, Fassifern, Fennell Bay, Marmong Point, Teralba and Woodrising)

    • • Bus routes in the Toronto district would be modified to provide a more consistent, easier to understand route network seven days a week.
    • • Existing route 270 would operate between Toronto West, Toronto and Stockland Glendale via Blackalls Park, Fassifern, Fennell Bay, Woodrising and Booragul.  During weekday peak periods services would extend to Wallsend and Newcastle University. The occasional weekday service to Mayfield and John Hunter Hospital would no longer operate – connections would be available to Newcastle Buses services at Stockland Glendale (route 226).
    • • Existing route 271 would be modified to operate between Toronto and Stockland Glendale via Fennell Bay, Bolton Point, Marmong Point, Booragul and Teralba Station.  The occasional service to the Teralba Bowling Club would no longer operate.
    • • Existing route 272 would be modified to operate between Toronto and Stockland Glendale via Fennell Bay, Bolton Point, Woodrising, Booragul and Teralba Station.  The occasional service to the Teralba Bowling Club would no longer operate, and the occasional service to Charlestown and Westfield Kotara would be discontinued.  Connections for Charlestown and Westfield Kotara would be available at Stockland Glendale to Newcastle Buses services (route 339 to Charlestown and route 334 to Westfield Kotara).
      • There would be no changes to existing Hunter Valley Buses services south of Toronto (routes 274, 275, 276, 278, 279, 280)
