Proposed changes to bus services – Suburb by Suburb

Fingal Bay and Shoal Bay

  • • Existing route 130 would continue to operate between Fingal Bay, Shoal Bay, Nelson Bay and Newcastle, but would no longer operate via Austral Street Shops on selected trips. All route 130 services would operate direct via Shoal Bay Rd and Magnus St.
  • Existing local route 30 services would be renumbered to route 130.

 

Nelson Bay, including Little Beach

  • • Existing route 130 would continue to operate between Fingal Bay, Shoal Bay, Nelson Bay and Newcastle, but would no longer operate via Austral Street Shops on selected trips. All route 130 services would operate direct via Shoal Bay Rd and Magnus St.  This area would be served by new route 131.
  • Existing local route 30 services would be renumbered to route 130.

  • • New route 131 would provide a local route between Soldiers Point, Salamander Bay, Nelson Bay and Little Beach seven days a week.  It would operate via Bagnall Beach Rd, Spinnaker Way, Wallawa Rd, Galoola Dr, Stockton St, Donald St, Downing St, Parkes St, Armidale Av, Austral St, Trevally St and Gowrie Av. It would operate to the Tomaree Community Hospital and Nelson Bay RSL Club.  Route 131 would replace current route 31 and 31B trips.

  • Existing route 136 between Nelson Bay and Raymond Terrace would continue to operate maintaining school connections.

 

Corlette, Salamander Bay, Soldiers Point and Taylors Beach

  • • Existing route 130 would continue to operate between Fingal Bay, Shoal Bay, Nelson Bay and Newcastle, but would no longer operate via Austral Street Shops on selected trips.  All route 130 services would operate direct via Shoal Bay Rd and Magnus St.
  • Existing local route 30 services would be renumbered to route 130.

  • • New route 131 would provide a local route between Soldiers Point, Salamander Bay, Nelson Bay and Little Beach seven days a week.  It would operate via Bagnall Beach Rd, Spinnaker Way, Wallawa Rd, Galoola Dr, Stockton St, Donald St, Downing St, Parkes St, Armidale Av, Austral St, Trevally St and Gowrie Av.  It would operate to the Tomaree Community Hospital and Nelson Bay RSL Club.  Route 131 would replace current route 31 and 31B trips.

Anna Bay, Birubi Point, Fishermans Bay and Boat Harbour

    • • There would be no change to route 130 between Nelson Bay, Anna Bay and Newcastle.
    • • Existing local route 30 services would be renumbered to route 130.
    • • New route 132 would provide a local route between Soldiers Point, Salamander Bay and Anna Bay during weekday peak periods.  It would operate via Port Stephens Drive, providing connections to Newcastle services on route 130 at Anna Bay.  Limited weekday services would operate via Taylors Beach.  Route 132 would replace current route 30 trips between Soldiers Point and Anna Bay.
